Ive started work on my porfolio website for matt johnson. He emailed me a brief and i spoke to him over the phone about how he would like the website to look. He wanted a clean and simple style which wouldn't take anything away from his photos. He also wanted an easy to navigate system and we spoke about the different sections he wanted.
Ive been looking at some other photography portfolio websites for some ideas (below).

For one part of my final unit i have decided to do something web based. I think this will broaden my portfolio and skill set. Whilst in London I met a photographer called matt johnson who wanted a portfolio website. I decided to do this as one of my briefs.

Now finished at Moonshine and back in Manchester. Really enjoyed it and think ive learnt more in two weeks there than i have in my whole time at college. its definately given me something to think about in terms of what direction i want to take my career. I learnt that flash work and in particular banners are easy bread and butter so need to be able to do them.
This week they've given me something a bit more fun to do and im working with James the designer. He wants me to design a selection of Qee toys in the style of Moonshine. He wants around forty for a poster which will be sold when they open their shop. Below is what i have done so far.

Just finished my first week at Moonshine. its been really good. the whole soho design scene has a real buzz about it. id definatley like to work in london at some point in the future. As its a small agency i was thrown in at the deep end. i had to make some web banners for nose wine. I was talked through a lot of it but the attention to detail in the industry is much greater than college. Also the workrate is much higher as you're working 9 till 5. The guys that work there are helpful and also really good. theres one designer a couple of programmers and an art director so it really is small. A screenshot of the banner is below.

Finished my portfolio website which is below. still waiting to get it up and running. need some help putting it in a htnl page. Just been given some more work experience by my tutor Dan. His brother owns a deesign agency in soho in london called Moonshine Media Design. Its a small agency so it will be a nice contrast to working at code. Think I start in a couple of weeks.
ive been doing some work experience at Code Computer Love this week as part of the Code School thing. Im working on the crown paints website. I basically have to find the RGBs of three main colours in around 1000 photos which is nice. Its been a good experience seeing how the company works and getting a small feel of how a larger design agency opperates. Also met Bes whos the designer tutoring me throughout the year.
heres my finished design for the site. all i need to do now is put it all in flash and get it up and running which im sure is easier said than done.

below are some initial ideas for the site. ive decided to go with a hand drawn style and i think im going to keep it black and white. i think its important not to let the site take anything away from the work.

Ive started looking back at flash and trying to familiarise myself with it again because its been a while. hopfully its like riding a bike.

Ive now finished my wagamama brief and sent it off to YCN. For my next project ive decided to start on my online portfolio. I think i need to do a project using flash as i haven't really used it yet this year and this is the perfect opportunity. Id like the wbsite to all be on one page with buttons which bring up the different sections.
